Computer #15 (Microsoft Surface Laptop 5)
|
I lost my Microsoft Surface Go laptop (Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD running Win11) back in the March 2024 timeframe. It was my portable machine, meant for light use on the go. I volunteer at the Genealogy Room at the local library and it did yoeman's work those Thursdays. Then, in March 2024, it vanished. I spent 2 months looking for it (in the car, in the house, in my office, in the library, etc.) but it was nowhere to be found, so I bit the bullet and bought Computer #15 to replace it. The lost laptop was a lightweight... minimal compute power, minimal SSD storage, minimal RAM (for a Windows machine), but it did run Windows 11. A decent laptop was needed for helping folks at the library and to manage my occasional genealogy lecture-presentations, so I bit the bullet and bought a kick-ass laptop with i7 processor, 32 GB RAM and a 1TB SSD. I also picked up a mongrel $18 carrying case for portability, which was too flimsy for this beast of a laptop, so I swapped it for the Dell leather case that came with the $25 MITRE laptop I bought at auction. |
