German Exchange Students

Woburn High School has had an Exchange Program with Gymnasium Kurt-Schumacher-Allee in Bremen Germany for more than 20 years. Each year German students come to Woburn for 3+ weeks, live with families, attend Woburn High School, and get exposed to American culture (both good and bad). Then in April, the American students do the same - travel to Bremen, live with host families, attend Gymnasium Kurt-Schumacher-Allee, and absorb German/European culture (again, both good and bad). The horizons that are broadened on both sides, and the lasting friendships that are made, make it more than worthwhile. If any of you get a chance to participate in such an activity - do it. You will be glad you did.

Our family has participated in this Woburn High School program since 1996, and these are the students who have become part of our family for three short weeks each year:

1996 - Björn Niemann

1997 - Julia Kunze

1998 - Saskia Gerlach

1999 - Maximilian Thieme
