Musical Solace

In times of sorrow or loss I've often sought and found solace in music, and in particular one piece of music, the Pie Jesu from Andrew Lloyd Webber's Requiem.

Making this music available here technically violates copyright laws, I'm sure, but I offer it here anyway, at least temporarily.   If you find solace as I do in this music, I encourage you you find a copy to purchase of your own.  the entire album is stirring, but this one piece has always had a profound effect on me, since the first time I heard it.

Pie Jesu (for treble, soprano, chorus), from Andrew Lloyd Webber's Requiem
(Paul Miles-Kingston, Sarah Brightman)

If your computer is set up to play MP3 music files, then when you click on the speakers icon below, the song should begin to download and when finished, start playing.  Be aware that it is a large file - 2.3 MB - so if you connect to the internet over a phone line it may take a few (perhaps quite a few) minutes to download.

Pie Jesu, qui tollis peccata mundi
   dona eis requiem.

Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi
   dona eis requiem sempiternam.

Merciful Jesus, who takest away the sins of the world,
   grant them rest.

Lamb of God, who takest away the sins of the world,
   grant them eternal rest.
