      Obituary: Theodore W. Leggett of Wilmington, a longtime employee of the Record-American-Advertiser, died Wedneday at Somerset Nursing Home in Reading after a brief illness. He was 89.
      Born in Everett, Mr. Leggett graduated from Northeastern University where he majored in business administration.
      Mr. Leggett was the mail order solicitor in the advertising department of the Record-American-Advertiser, now the Boston Herald, for 54 years until his retirement in 1974. He was also a member of the Newspaperman's Guild.
      Mr. Leggett was a cryptographer in the U.S. Army during World War II. He also founded Boston's Victory Garden during World War II.
      He was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner in Temple Aleppo, Boston. He was also active in the Shriner's Burn Center, where he worked as a volunteer and the Cambridge YMCA.
      He is survived by one son, Wayne Lindgren of Wilmington; one sister, Hazel Vogt of Wakefield; and two grandchildren, Bryan and Eric of Wilmington.
      A funeral Mass will be celebrated for Mr. Leggett at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Rocco Funeral Home, 331 Main Street, Everett.
      Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield.
      Arrangements are by the Salvatore Rocco & Sons Funeral Home, Everett.
