Christmas 2000

Dear 'Gene,

That name Eugene is so much part of our family - and I write it so often..... that you will sense my familiarity. I had a great-grand-uncle who was a doctor and went to America. My father was called after him. My youngest brother Fr. 'Gene is a parish priest in Western Australia. To go on to the next generation - my brother Christy who lives in ??Cloum?? Co. Tipp[erary] has a son and a grandson called many derivations of 'Gene. My eldest brother John named his eldest son Eugene. My sister called her only son Eugene!!! And the Eugenians were ancient kings in Munster - Southern Ireland!

Sr. Cecilia Griffin has told you already what it meant to our family to get copies of that picture of our ancestors. Do you know that the Baltovin McGraths made a copy for each member of the nine of them. I kept a copy. Christy got a copy for each member of his family and Fr. 'Gene has taken a cop to Australia. Sr. Cecilia sent me a copy of your letter - and I want you to know for Christmas what pleasure you have given to all of us McGraths.

May God bless you and all your loved ones at Christmas and thru' all your New Years.

Sincerely,
Sr. Gemma McGrath

Notes in possession of Joanne GONSALVES taken during conversations with Joanne MCGRATH state that Elizabeth Mary BUTTIMER was born in Bandon, Co. Cork, Ireland

I clicked on Cork in the IreAtlas Townland site and got the entire file for Cork, which I am now trying to copy-paste. It will probably take as l long to do that as it did to download the entire file. It's huge! Anyway, I did a find/search for Kilnag... and came across many like, but not exact. In the search I happened across the name Bandon and remembered that it was a very familiar name. In fact, I could swear it's where I heard Gram was born. There are also many PLU's with the name Bandon also. I could do a search, specifying it as Barony, Parish, or PLU and see what I get.
