View of Deck With Lattice (Mid Aug 2002)

For as many years as the house has been here the underneath of the deck has been open and visible. We have our cordwood pile for the fireplaces under there, and various other things (lawn furniture, spare lumber, etc.) as well, in plain view of the neighbors. One of the goals of the rebuild (in addition to rebuilding an unsightly old deck with a nice new one) was to skirt the underside of the deck somehow to give the neighbors a break from the sometimes messy view under our deck. So I installed a lattice skirt.
