Boston Irish Music Club

My maternal grandfather, John Michael MCGRATH, was born in Ardfert, County Kerry, Ireland, on April 29, 1871, and came to America in 1897. He lived in Boston and worked as a freight clerk for the Boston and Maine Railroad. He married the former Elizabeth Mary BUTTIMER in Boston, on November 27, 1907. They moved to Woburn sometime between 1908 (birth of 1st child) and 1911 (birth of 2nd child). John was active in the Boston area Irish Music scene, and served for a time as the Vice-President of the Boston Irish Music Club. He's shown here in the back row.
