German Exchange Program - October 1998
Yet again we hosted a German exchange student from Bremen. Saskia Gerlach was a delight to have share our home for 2½ weeks. She arrived on Saturday, October 17th, and stayed through Wednesday, November 4th. While the German students were here they visited a number of sights in and around Boston, including Olde Sturbridge Village, Salem MA (House of the Seven Gables, Witch Museum, etc), Wolf Hollow in Ipswich, and a number of sights in Boston proper. On Saskia's very first full day here, she spent the day with Megan and Audrey and their friends at King Richard's Faire in Carver MA - A Renaissance Festival that runs every year at this time.
During one of our family weekends we took Saskia and Audrey to Keene NH to the Keene Pumpkin Fest, where over 17,000 carved and lit jack-lanterns decorated the downtown area. Saskia and Audrey both carved one to donate to the total, and they were counted towards the breaking of the Guinness World Record for number of lit jack-o-lanterns!
Here are some photos from Saskia's visit. Click on the framed thumbnail photo to see a larger version (the size of the image to be downloaded is in parentheses after the description).....
