Lynn & Gene's Original Wedding Vows
July 4, 1974
Rev. Thomas J. Naughton, officiating

Let us Pray:-

Giver of every good and perfect gift, we bring Thee hearty thanks for the joy that is in all our hearts this hour, and especially in the hearts of these two our friends. We rejoice that their ways in life have led them to each other, and brought them to this place where now they stand together. Most of all we thank Thee for that best of all Thy gifts to the children of men, the love that has bonded their hearts in one.

And now give them, we pray, with all realization of the deep significance of what they do today, a yet deeper joy in doing of it. Renew and strengthen within their hearts, through all the years they live together, the spirit of these promises that they now make to each other. So may their path through life be as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

Amen

Gene, will you have Lynn to be your wedded wife, to live together in the holy estate of matrimony? Will you love her, comfort her, honor and keep her, in sickness and in health; and forsaking all other keep yourself only unto her, so long as you both shall live?

I will.

Lynn, will you have Gene to be your wedded husband, to live together in the holy estate of matrimony? Will you love him, comfort him, honor and keep him, in sickness and in health; and forsaking all other keep yourself only unto him, so long as you both shall live?

I will.

Who giveth Lynn to be married to Gene?

Her mother and I do.

I, Gene, take you, Lynn, to be my lawful wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish as long as we both shall live, according to God’s holy ordinance, and thereto I pledge you my love.

I, Lynn, take you, Gene, to be my lawful wedded husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish as long as we both shall live, according to God’s holy ordinance, and thereto I pledge you my love.

What tokens do you give as a pledge of your faith and affection?

From the earliest time, the golden circle has been a symbol of wedded love. It is made of pure gold to symbolize pure love. Being one unbroken circle, it symbolizes unending love. As often as either of you see these golden circles, you will be reminded of this high moment and the unending love you promise.

To the Groom: Take this ring and place it on the wedding finger of Lynn and repeat: As a token of my constant faith and undying affection I give you this ring.

To the Bride: Take this ring and place it on the wedding finger of Gene and repeat: As a token of my constant faith and undying affection I give you this ring.

Let us Pray:-

Almighty Father, look graciously on Lynn and Gene that they may love, honor, and cherish each other, and so live together in faithfulness and patience, in wisdom and true godliness, that their home may be a haven of blessing and a place of peace; through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Amen

Forasmuch as Lynn and Gene have consented together in holy wedlock, and have witnessed the same before God and this company, and thereto have pledged their faith each to the other, and have declared the same by joining hands, and by giving and receiving a ring; by virtue of the authority vested in me as a minister of the Church and in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts:-

I pronounce that you are now husband and wife together in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

May all that is noble, lovely, and true abide with you forever.

Now, may the Lord bless you and keep you; May He make His face to shine upon you, and be gracious unto you; May the Lord lift up His Countenance upon you, and give you peace. Now and forevermore.

Amen
