Lynn's New Car (circa 1999)

The old 1988 Caravan was getting a bit long of tooth (aren't we all), 12 years old and 160,000 miles on two continents (it climbed through the Alps more times than it climbed through the Rockies) [Editor's note: and didn't survive beyond a few months after this was written, in 1999], the 1993 Geo Storm was cute but torture on Lynn's back, and we are now a family of four licensed drivers, so the time came for a third car (shudder!)........

We looked at some of the Urban Assault Vehicles (aka SUVs) available, but the ones that were in the price range we wanted to pay were tinny and cheap (no R names, we A might V get sued 4), and the ones that met our requirements were priced as used cars at about half the price of our first house!  So we turned away from the added cost of a trendy band-wagon style of vehicle that everyone else was driving, too, and returned to our old stand-by (mini-vans), which have fallen out of favor a bit lately with the buying public, which means they are a lot cheaper than SUVs are these days!

We found a 1997 Plymouth Voyager with all sorts of bells and whistles.  It was a leased car in its previous life, fairly high mileage for only two years old, but it was in great shape, the price was substantially lower than the Kelly Blue Book price for that model with that mileage, and it was gentle on Lynn's back.  The color is listed as Deep Amethyst Pearl, but we call it the Rolling Eggplant because the color is that sometimes-blue, sometimes-purple color that reminds us of an eggplant!  We're thinking of getting a green stem for a hood ornament!

Here it is..........
